Hanoi | Vietnam

Hanoi is the capital city of Vietnam situated in the north of Vietnam. It covers an area of 3,358.6 km2. The second-largest city in Vietnam consists of 12 urban districts, 1 district-levelled town and 17 rural districts. Located within the Red River Delta, Hanoi is the cultural and political centre of Vietnam. Hanoi traced its history back to the third century BCE, when a portion of the modern-day city served as the capital of the historic Vietnamese nation of Âu Lạc.

Harare | Zimbabwe

Harare is the capital and most populous city of Zimbabwe. The city proper has an area of 960.6 km2. Situated in north-eastern Zimbabwe in the country’s Mashonaland region, Harare is a metropolitan province, which also incorporates the municipalities of Chitungwiza and Epworth. The city was founded in 1890 by the Pioneer Column, a small military force of the British South Africa Company, and named Fort Salisbury after the UK Prime Minister Lord Salisbury.

The heart of the La Habana province, Havana is the country’s main port and leading commercial centre.  The city has a population of 2.1 million inhabitants, and it spans a total of 781.58 km2, making it the largest city by area, the most populous city, and the fourth largest metropolitan area in the Caribbean region. The city of Havana was founded by the Spanish in the 16th century and due to its strategic location, it served as a springboard for the Spanish conquest of the Americas, becoming a stopping point for Spanish galleons returning to Spain. Philip II of Spain granted Havana the title of capital in 1592.

Helsinki is the capital, primate, and most populous city of Finland. Located on the shore of the Gulf of Finland, it is the seat of the region of Uusimaa in southern Finland and has a population of 656,250. The city’s urban area has a population of 1,268,296, making it by far the most populous urban area in Finland as well as the country’s most important centre for politics, education, finance, culture, and research; while Tampere in the Pirkanmaa region, located 179 kilometres to the north from Helsinki, is the second-largest urban area in Finland.

Honiara | Solomon Islands

Honiara is the capital and largest city of the Solomon Islands, situated on the northwestern coast of Guadalcanal. As of 2017, it had a population of 84,520 people. The city is served by Honiara International Airport and the seaport of Point Cruz and lies along the Kukum Highway. Honiara contains the majority of the major government buildings and institutions of the Solomon Islands.
