Affiliate Disclosure
Transparency matters. This page sets out how Isolated Traveller earns money and how that affects (or does not affect) our editorial coverage.
What affiliate marketing is
An affiliate link is a special URL that, if you click it and subsequently purchase a product or book a service, may earn us a small commission from the merchant. The price you pay is exactly the same as if you visited the merchant directly — the commission comes out of the merchant’s margin, not your pocket.
Our policy
We may use affiliate links for travel-related products and services we think are useful to readers — accommodation booking, travel insurance, flight comparison, guidebooks, gear, and similar. Where we do, you have our commitment that:
- We only recommend products and services we have either used ourselves or believe represent good value based on independent research.
- We never accept payment in exchange for positive coverage. Our editorial views are independent of commercial considerations.
- We will always clearly mark affiliate links — typically inline or with the symbol † — so you can choose whether to use them.
- We will never artificially inflate prices or recommend products that are inferior just because they pay a higher commission.
Other ways we may earn
From time to time we may also accept sponsored content (clearly labelled), display advertising (third-party served), or paid partnerships with tourism bodies. All such arrangements are disclosed in the relevant articles.
If you would rather not
If you prefer not to use affiliate links, simply navigate to the merchant directly — you will get the same product or service at the same price, just without our small commission. We will not be offended.
