About these geography quizzes
These 18 free geography quiz games are built from the same reference data as the rest of the site — 195 countries, all 50 US states, and 80 world landmarks. Test yourself on flags, capital cities, populations, land area, currencies, official languages, and continents. Every game works in your browser with no sign-up, no app, and no cost: choose a single game, set an Easy/Medium/Hard difficulty, or take on a timed Speed Round, a Survival streak, or the Daily Challenge that serves everyone the same ten questions each day. Wrong answers always explain the correct one, so the games double as a quick way to learn world geography.
Frequently asked questions
Are these geography quiz games free?
Yes — every game is completely free, runs in your web browser, and needs no sign-up, account, download, or payment. Your scores and streaks are saved privately in your own browser so you can track personal bests without an account.
What types of geography quiz can I play?
There are eighteen games across three groups. World games cover flags, capitals, population, land area, currencies, languages and continents. USA games cover state capitals, nicknames, largest cities and regions. Landmark games test which country and city famous landmarks are in. You can also play a timed Speed Round, a Survival streak, or the Daily Challenge.
What is the Daily Challenge?
The Daily Challenge is a fixed set of ten mixed questions that is the same for everyone on a given day, so you can compare your score with friends. It changes every day, and the games track your day-by-day streak.
Can I make the quizzes harder or easier?
Yes. A difficulty selector lets you choose Easy, Medium, Hard or All. Easy draws on the best-known, most populous countries; Hard pulls in the smaller and more obscure ones. Difficulty applies to single games and to Speed and Survival modes; the Daily Challenge always uses the full range so it stays the same for everyone.
Is this a good way to learn flags and capital cities?
It is designed to be. Every question shows the correct answer with a short explanation and often a fun fact after you answer, and links through to the full country, state or landmark profile, so playing repeatedly is an effective way to memorise flags, capitals and world geography.
Do the games work on mobile?
Yes. The games are designed for touch and work on phones, tablets and computers. On desktop you can also answer with the number keys and press Enter to move on. There is an optional sound toggle for feedback.
