Polynesia is a subregion of Oceania, known for its expansive triangle-shaped area within the central and southern Pacific Ocean. The “Polynesian Triangle” has three corners marked by Hawaii in the north, New Zealand in the southwest, and Easter Island (Rapa Nui) in the southeast.
What is Zealandia?
Zealandia, often called the “hidden continent,” is a largely submerged continental mass in the southwest Pacific Ocean. Most of Zealandia lies underwater, with only about 6% of its landmass visible above the ocean’s surface, including New Zealand and New Caledonia.
