1. Clearwater is the home of the Clearwater Marine Aquarium. The aquarium is home to the bottle-nose dolphin featured in the movie, Dolphin Tale.

2. The global headquarters of the Church of Scientology is located in Clearwater. The Church refers to Clearwater as their “Flag Land Base.”

3. Clearwater has a total area of 39.2 square miles, of which 25.6 square miles is land and 13.7 square miles is water.

4. The original inhabitants of what is now Clearwater were the Tocobagan Indian tribe. The first settlement of the area was around 1835 when the US Army built Fort Harrison as an outpost during the Seminole wars.
