Jonesboro
Jonesboro is the fifth-most populous city situated on Crowley’s Ridge in the northeastern corner of Arkansas. Jonesboro is one of two county seats of Craighead County.

Brief History of Jonesboro
Jonesboro was founded in 1815 as a regional centre for trade and commerce. It was named after one of its founders, William A. Jones.
During the Civil War, Jonesboro played a significant role as a transportation hub and saw military action. In 1863, it was the site of the Battle of Jonesboro, a key engagement during the Atlanta Campaign. The Union victory in this battle helped pave the way for General Sherman’s capture of Atlanta.
In 1909, the founding of Arkansas State College, now known as Arkansas State University, ushered in a transformative period of educational and cultural advancement for Jonesboro. Over the years, the university has burgeoned into a prominent institution, playing a pivotal role in shaping the local economy and fostering community growth.
