Flag of Barima-Waini
The Barima-Waini region is named after two rivers that flow through the region: the Barima River and the Waini River. The region is predominantly forested highland, bordered at the north by a narrow strip of low coastal plain.
The flag is divided into two horizontal bands yellow and green, representing the gold and diamond mining and forestry industries in the region.
An alternative flag design features the leatherback turtle, a symbol representing the renowned Shell Beach, where leatherback turtles are commonly found.
